Why Do I Serve God?

While having my prayer time a shocking question was raised to me by God He asked me why I serve. What is the reason for me to spend my time, talent, and treasure in serving Him? I didn`t expect that I couldn`t answer God right I way. I now started to reflect and ask myself why? As I continue I reasoned out maybe because I would like to change the world through YFC. But God said to me that this reason isn`t a good reason for me to serve Him. He said that if I serve Him only for this reason sooner or later I would lose the passion, lose the spirit, and lose the willingness to serve Him because if this is the only reason I am doing these things I would be focusing myself in the structures, technicalities, and events of our community and would really not last. Then I asked God what should be the reason? God reminded me that to Love Him will all of my strength, with all of my mind, and with all of my heart. I said to God that I love Him because I worship Him; He then said that to love Him is to love the least of our brethren “when I was hungry you gave me food…whatever you do unto the least of these you do it unto me” God indeed affirmed me that loving Him isn’t measured how good we worship but how we love the least of our brethren so for me I will continue to love God, to love the poor, I will continue to serve in Gawad Kalinga because through here I will have the right reason why I serve and this reason would sustain me and will make me a better person for my God. So I passed on this question that God gave to me: Why do you serve God?

i seve because i want to chyange my life, my life before was such a disaster i think... but now I know that my life is change not fully but I know I will fully change as day goes by and as my service continue, coz sometimes I cant attend some of the activities but I realize that if I cant serve my I can feel that my soul is very dry... I want to worship him all day.. pure love 24/7..

PS.. do not get me wrong, i was not perfect in my service, i had my share of temptations, and mostly i chose what is wrong and not what is right. but what amazes me is that God grants me more and more chances to be that knight, not because God talked to me personally but thru all the people (leaders,households,coordinators) whom God used to hug me back. and this is another reason why i serve, the people. that same people whom others qoute as the ones who will "last".

answer(MY): i dont know. as i can remember, i stood up in our cap`s talk4 because i imagined myself to be part of God`s army. a knight. a knight who is willing to defend his master. that was almost 9years ago. now, I am gambler. i gamble all the stakes for and of my service. gambling on how or what to do to evangelize more.and in this gambling, i am irritated as the question arise again and again in my mind, WHY DO I SERVE?.. i serve because, i became who i am. i want others to be as happy as i am in times of troubles and trials. i want to serve, because i want others to be as "bagag-nawong" (makapal ang mukha) as i am. whether i become a knight, a gambler, a nurse, an engineer, a lawyer, all i would like to do is share how i felt love. and this is thru my community.

i served God because i love him... datz it! though service is quite difficult coz we meet many difficult people but ill still serve him.. no matter what.. i know his always with me... love is more imortant than anything else.. im gratefull for havng God and havign you my brothers and sisters in christ!

hmm.., 4 mi i serv god bcuz i chose 2 serv him and in d YFC.., im nt showing off or anything..., its just dat i think we all r been chosen by GOD not 4 who we r but what we r insyd..., and i know dat every1 of has his/her reasons why we serv god.., is that an AMEN?.., hmm i also think that love is one of the basis y i/we serv god.., nat only 4 him but 2 other people also.., so 2 all of bro and sis.., lets particip8 and increase the no. of YFC`s.., so dat wi can achiv wat i think god want as 2 achiv.., is that every people in ds world will know him, worship him and love him.., as how wi love our family and our selves.., so god bless evry1.., and alwayz praise GOD 4 his blessingz!!!..,

What constitutes the service of God? is our first question. The service of God? you will ask, my hearers. Does God require our service? Does the Almighty, "who created the heavens, and stretched them out; who spread forth the earth and that which cometh out of it; who giveth breath unto the people upon it, a spirit to them that walk therein" (Is. 62:5); who measures the waters in the hollow of his hand, and metes out heaven with the span, and comprehends the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighs the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance" (Ib. 60:12); does He require our service? the all-powerful God, the service of powerless, feeble man, who is to-day here, to-morrow in the grave? No; the discharge of our religious and moral obligations may be more properly termed our own service, the service of lean, than the service of God. It is for our own benefit that these obligations are imposed on us. The service of God is designed to impress on the mind of man his destiny on earth, to elicit and to perfect the noble qualities of his nature, and thus to prepare him for the eternal life hereafter. This is the true meaning of the service of God, which it is the duty of man to perform. Be of Service!!! godblessyouall

SERVICE...hmmm...it`s giving yourself (to the point of offering your life and your death) for A CAUSE far greater than your own--GOD. it`s giving up and letting go of your own worldly "glories" to show God`s glory to others. it entails pains, sacrifices and crosses, yet rewards everlasting peace, unfailing love, and eternal joy. it means fighting the good fight! BUT WHY? because of LOVE. because i`m tired of running away from GOD`S LOVE. because i was once lost and had gone astray, and now i think it`s TIME TO GO HOME. because God gave me a MISSION. know the song "tell the world of His love"? well, each of us has our own way of TELLING THE WORLD OF GOD`S LOVE, mine is THROUGH SERVING. nice of you to come up of an article `bout service. let`s KEEP THE FAITH, MAKE GOD SMILE, and FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT--till the end. at home, God will say, "well done, good and faithful servants."

I serve God because he has given his life for me. Kahit na biglang nagbago ang buhay ko nung lumipat ako dito sa Quezon City eh Hindi pa rin nagbabago ang conviction ko sa pagserve. I really want to continue to reach to others para makita nila ang kulay ng buhay dito sa pagserve..lalo na sa YFC. Godspeed YFC-Davao!

uhhmmm... WHY DO I SERVE GOD??? i serve god for no reason at all... its like loving him without knowing how and why. i serve god not because i want to be known or anything... not because i want to travel nor meet people... but for no reason at all... god is worth serving... its not an obligation nor any prestigious requirement to serve him but its voluntary... giving god your service could be the greatest gift of all you have shown to him... _may god be praised!_

..at first,i was really so confused if i`m going to join yfc.because i thought the org. is so boring. but then,i found out,being in the yfc is such a great decision i had ever made. my faith had strengthened. i got a lot of friends. i gained self confidence(very much).. i did had a chance to met a lot of faithful/god-fearing youth. but the greatest advantage, i deeply knew GOD..and i made a decision. whatever will happen,i`m willing to serve GOD..with all my heart,mind and soul. whatever things would hinder my decision, GOD will surely help me in all the hindrances...GOD REALLY LOVES US..GODBLESS..

It`s really an opportunity to serve HIM. i serve Him because He served me first. at times i turned away from Him but he did not go away, instead, He let me experience the privilege of being a servant-leader by tapping me to serve others through YFC.Serving Him is not that easy, it`s really an everyday challenge. but, I pray, and that significantly help me to strive and continue my mission. i`m thankful to that.and it`s a bonus because God has made my life more meanigful than before. lastly, i serve because i want to return the favor God has gave me. May God be praised!!
